Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

Dead Until Dark
By Charlaine Harris

First in the Sookie Stackhouse series of novels, this book reminded me a bit of the Twilight series. There are vampires and shape-shifters and the main character seems to be involved with at least one of each. There’s also a big, bad, edler vampire who takes an interest in Sookie. In a switch from Twilight, Sookie (a non-vampire) has the power to read people’s minds, while her vampire counter-part cannot.

There is a familiar feel to the characters, however, the story itself is more of a murder mystery and I think it was a good read. As far as a whodunit goes, it did keep me guessing until the end.

Other books in the series are:

Living Dead in Dallas
Club Dead
Dead to the World
Dead as a Doornail
Definitely Dead
All Together Dead
From Dead to Worse
Many Bloody Returns
Dean and Gone

Harlan Coben

Harlan Coben is my most recent addiction. Although his settings and some of the characters have become very familiar, there's always that last plot twist that surprises you. He keeps you guessing about who the culprit is, and while you may think you've got it nailed down... you can usually count on there being an accomplice that you really didn't expect! I like his style.

Feeding My Addiction

My reading addiction is fed mainly by my neighbor, Denise, who thankfully provides me with a steady supply of books. We pass them back and forth and usually have no idea whose is whose anymore. When we're in a pinch, we try the trunk of her car and usually find a book or two we haven't read, or so we thought... until the plot starts to sound familiar!
